In this series of digital collages, I pair song lyrics with a photograph of the scene in which the song is actually playing. Each piece in this series captures a coincidence by combining a photograph of a public space with a caption that corresponds to the lyrics of music playing at the instant the image was captured. These digital collages combine the audio and the visual to create a new whole.

Each piece represents an ironic, chance, and individualized moment within a manufactured experience. In this work, the perspective of the photographer is the result of happenstance, being in a particular place at a specific time. These subjective perspectives of transitory everyday moments challenge the institution of popular culture as an objective experience by framing a personal discourse on a collective experience.
