In these paintings, I explore the following question: What if everyday surroundings, filled with rhythms, patterns and repetition could suggest that our lives are filled with music? In this series of paintings, pattern, as a principle of art, corresponds to music as each repeated element is a visual metaphor for rhythms and beats.

Using a calligraphic line, playfully rendered animals find themselves situated within musical environments. Influenced by the collages and Fauvist palette of Henri Matisse and bold paintings of Stuart Davis, these paintings pose the possibility of a musical visual experience sourced from aspects of everyday life. These kaleidoscopic paintings present layers of multiple perspectives in one frame, also reflecting Cubist renderings of the fourth dimension. With multiple perspectives contained in each image, these paintings explore the simultaneity of experiences integral to contemporary life.
