My artwork is in dialogue with conceptual artists and philosophers ranging from Banksy and John Baldassari to the early nineteenth-century theology of Søren Kierkegaard. My artwork, called conflicted objects, undermines critical assessment through ambivalent representations embodied in installations, photographs, drawings, and paintings.

The term “conflicted objects” offers a theoretical perspective through which I contextualize my interdisciplinary studio practice. My artwork critiques representation by pointing to formal and conceptual problems that complicate the process of communicating meaning through objects.

My artistic practice is concerned with a fundamental inquiry into the nature of art and representation, specifically, the interplay between form and content as manifested through conflicted objects. My artwork is inspired by public places, popular culture, and audio recordings. The production and presentation of this work enables me to explore various attempts and failures of material objects to represent meaning by transferring everyday occurrences to tangible imagery. These forms serve to interrogate the limits of representation through visual puns and strategies of irony and humor.
